Competition Team

Participation in the competition team at Center Stage Dance Academy is voluntary and offers students the opportunity to enhance their technical skills and performance experience.
Competition classes are 30 minutes in length. To be eligible for the competition team, students must:

-         Attend the week-long Intensive Camp at the start of the season.

-         Participate in the large group competition number.

-         Be enrolled in Competition Ballet.

-         Take a minimum of two additional technique classes, such as Ballet, Leaps, or Turns.

-         Enroll in Unlimited Classes to participate in recreational classes within the same genre as their competition dances, if available.

Our competition team is dedicated not only to developing technical proficiency but also to fostering essential qualities such as stage presence, poise, grace, positive attitude, self-esteem, respect, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Team members are held to higher standards than recreational dancers, as they serve as role models within the studio community. We expect our dancers to demonstrate professionalism and leadership both inside and outside the studio.

Competition entails a year-long commitment, both financially and in terms of time. The season begins with Intensive Camp and concludes following our annual recital. Throughout the year, the team participates in three regional competitions and one dance convention, providing valuable opportunities to learn from industry experts. This year, we are excited to announce a destination trip (to be announced) where dancers will perform and take classes led by renowned choreographers, further enriching their experience.

We recognize the importance of balancing school, sports, and other extracurricular activities with dance commitments. As such, we permit excused absences for participation in one additional sport per year. Absences exceeding this allowance will be considered unexcused, as consistent attendance is critical to the team’s success. Being part of a team requires dedication, and every member’s participation impacts the entire group.

This structure ensures that each dancer receives comprehensive training, valuable performance opportunities, and continues to grow as a confident and well-rounded artist.
